Aurelium has established a broad pipeline of high value targets and biomarkers for the development of diagnostic and screening tests using multiple biomarkers. The use of multiple biomarkers greatly enhances the predictive values of diagnostic and disease monitoring tests. Using its SMART™ Proteomics Platform, the Company has identified more than 800 proteins associated with several indications in Oncology. These biomarkers are validated using clinical samples and are then used for the development of Multiple Marker Diagnostics (or MMD™ tests) for breast, ovarian, leukemia, lung and prostate cancers. The MMD™ tests, are composed of 5 to 100 biomarkers. The latter set of biomarkers is established as focused micro-array test.
The breast diagnostic tests include both DNA and protein tests (MMD™ QPCR and MMD™ ELISA), which utilize clinical biopsy material on microscope slides normally processed and analyzed by clinical pathology laboratories. The company is also developing a blood-screening test for breast cancer. This test is also based on multiple biomarkers and results from clinical samples demonstrate very high predictive values for the test. |
Several ovarian cancer tests have been developed. Similar to the breast biopsy tests, two ovarian tests (MMD™ QPCR and MMD™ ELISA), that utilize small samples from clinical biopsies on slides normally processed and analyzed by clinical pathology laboratories have been developed and validated with a large number of clinical samples. The Company is also developing a blood-screening test for ovarian cancer based on multiple biomarkers.
